Women in Engineering: Born to Build a Better Tomorrow

Engineering has, for hundreds of years, traditionally been a male-dominated industry. Goddard Technologies consciously combats this through inclusive and diverse hiring practices. To celebrate International Women in Engineering Day, we sat down with a few of our female engineers to learn about their career journeys, the advice theyโ€™d give to their younger selves, and how they work to enact thoughtful, industry-wide change.

Letโ€™s meet just a few of the many female engineers at Goddard Technologies.

Ariel Kule, Engineering Manager

Ariel has been part of the Goddard Technologies team since 2019, but her journey into engineering wasnโ€™t always the plan. While studying architecture in college, she discovered her true strengths and made a bold pivot.
โ€œI really enjoyed math and science โ€“ so engineering it was!โ€ she shared.

That decisive shift aligned with her passions and launched a career where analytical thinking thrives, proving that sometimes finding the right fit means listening to what excites you most.

Ariel is working to change the industry by striving to be an example she never had. โ€œI lead with empathy,โ€ she said. โ€œIโ€™m visible as my authentic self, give guidance freely and constructively, take pride in my work, keep my door open, and strive to learn from others.โ€

Stephanie Wilvert, Senior Mechanical Engineer

Stephanie joined Goddard Technologies in 2024, bringing with her a quiet determination and a strong sense of purpose. Her interest in engineering was sparked in high school during a career research project that led her to speak with a professional in the field. That conversation planted a seed โ€“ one that grew into a focused pursuit of mechanical engineering.

Since then, Stephanie has built her career with intention, driven by a desire to solve real-world problems and make an impact through thoughtful design. At Goddard Technologies, she contributes with precision and perseverance, balancing technical skill with a collaborative mindset.

When asked what advice sheโ€™d give her younger self, Stephanie smiles. โ€œYouโ€™re doing great. Stay curious, trust your instincts, and keep going โ€“ youโ€™re on the right path.โ€ In a field where representation still lags behind, her presence alone helps pave the way for others. โ€œEvery step forward creates space for someone else to follow.โ€

Juliette Bendheim, Senior Mechanical Engineer

Juliette 2

Juliette has been with Goddard Technologies since 2021, bringing hands-on expertise and a passion for building impactful solutions. A self-described โ€œLego kid,โ€ she was always drawn to understanding how parts fit together and how systems functioned. โ€œI wanted to figure out how to build complex devices,โ€ she says. โ€œMechanical engineering felt like a powerful way to shape the world around me by designing the products people use every day.โ€

With a strong background in machining, Juliette meets the challenges of a male-dominated industry head-on. โ€œI work to show that women are just as capable in this field,โ€ she says. โ€œThat perspective allows me to contribute meaningfully to designs in areas where women have traditionally been underrepresented.โ€

Her advice to new engineers โ€“ and to her younger self โ€“ is simple but powerful: lean into the hard stuff. โ€œDonโ€™t shy away from the difficult topics,โ€ she says. โ€œThat deep understanding will help you grow into a more confident, well-rounded engineer. Itโ€™s worth the effort.โ€

Carly Soderberg, Mechanical Engineer II

Carly 300x300 1

Carly joined Goddard Technologies in 2022. Her journey into engineering began the way many great ones do โ€“ with hands-on experience helping her dad in the garage. โ€œI was always good at math and science growing up,โ€ she shared. โ€œWhen choosing college majors, I thought it would be best to lean into those strengths.โ€ That instinct paid off. Today, sheโ€™s building innovative mechanical systems and making her mark at Goddard Technologies.

When asked what advice sheโ€™d give her younger self, Carly offered words that resonate far beyond engineering: โ€œItโ€™s okay to not know everything and ask questions, especially when starting out. No one expects you to be an expert.โ€ She also emphasized the importance of listening to your instincts and advocating for yourself, unapologetically.

As a woman in a male-dominated field, Carly creates impact through consistency, collaboration, and courage. โ€œSometimes just being there is what can make others feel like โ€˜hey, I can do that too,โ€™โ€ she said. โ€œI make sure my voice is heard and consciously take up space in meetings that are often all male.โ€

Outside of the office, Carly actively encourages girls and women to explore engineering, offering both inspiration and invitation: โ€œI want to be someone who tells them they can.โ€

Goddard Technologiesโ€™ commitment to diversity and inclusion yields new perspectives, ideas, and conversations that traditional product development consultancies may lack. The result is people-focused engineering across all engineering disciplines at Goddard Technologies. Learn more about how we can turn your idea into a reality today.
